Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Silver Dollar

The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin to celebrate the 230th Anniversary of the Marine Corps in the year 2005. This silver dollar was issued to honour the Marine Corps and all the Marines who have sacrificed their lives during their service.The United States Marines Corps is also known as United States Marines. This is the branch of United States Armed Force which carries out activities like conducting expeditionary and amphibious operations with United States Navy, Army and Air Force.
The obverse of this coin depicts the scene of Marines raising an American Flag over Iwo Jima. The original image was photographed by Joe Rosenthal. The reverse of this coin depicts the emblem of the Marine Corps, featuring an eagle, globe, and anchor.
