Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean and the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is a major tourist destination in the Mediterranean.The Cypriot Pound, also known as the ‘Lira’ was the currency of Cyprus. After the decimalisation of the pound, it was sub-divided into 100 cents. The Cypriot pound was replaced by the euro on 1 January 2008.
Today we are discussing a 1 Pound banknote issued in 2004. The obverse depicts a Cypriot woman wearing national dress to left; while the reverse features Cypriot handicrafts; and the village scene of Kato Drys. This orange note has the Bust of Aphrodite as its watermark.
