2000 Rupee Nepali Coin Released in 2015

The silver mohur was replaced in 1932 to the rupee. It was first called the mohru in Nepalese. In 1993, its value was linked to the Indian rupee as ‘1.6 Nepalese rupees = 1 Indian Rupee’. Rupees 100 and Rupees 2000 Nepalese coins were issued in 2015. The 2000 rupee coin features the father of democracy in Nepal, Ganesh Man Singh. The other side depicts a mountain which is symbolic to the nation’s identity.

Ganesh Man Singh was a prominent leader of Nepali Congress Movement in 2007 B.S. which took over the Rana Regime. In 2015 B.S., he was elected as Member of Parliament from Kathmandu Singh and later went on to become one of the main leaders advocating for democracy in Nepal.
