Austria Post celebrates 50th anniversary of Man on Moon

On 21st July 1969 man fulfilled his greatest ambition and curiosity about the Moon by successfully invading the surface of the moon for the first time. To commemorate this event Austria Post has issued a mini-sheet with a ‘Glow in the dark’ effect to this significant event. This event was one of the best results between the cold war between the two superpowers the USA and the USSR. It was a great leap in the field of space science after Yuri Gagarin- the first man in space.The first step of the moon by Neil Armstrong in 1969 was followed by the legendary words’ the one small step for a man, one giant leap of mankind’. This historical event was observed by millions of people all over the world. The first last for two and a half hours, before the astronauts returned to earth where they were heralded as heroes.
This stamp glow in the dark effect on the commemorative stamp can be seen if it’s held up to the light and then viewed in the darkened room.
