Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions is going to offer several rare and interesting stamps from 13th to 15th August. One of the highlights is a used example of a 5¢ black-on-green provisional stamp issued in 1845 by St. Louis Bears postmaster. A plate block of six $1 violet brown postage stamps issued in 1909 featuring George Washington is another exciting offering to look out for. It’s a block from the bottom margin and was previously hinged with rich colour and impression. The borders are neat and identical. Only 12 such examples have been recorded according to the auction house. The remarkable item comes along with a 2018 certificate from Professional Stamp Experts. It has a listed market value of $22,500, an estimated value of $15,000 to $20,000 and an opening bid of $7,500.A cover mailed from Toronto to Skive in 1894, with 10 ½¢ Small stamps featuring the Queen is also going to be auctioned. One of the four philatelic gems of the Republic of China, the 3¢ blue-green Junk stamp is another exciting offering. It was issued in 1915 and was the first set of stamps printed in Peking. In 1922, the same stamps were surcharged in red to produce 2¢-on-3¢ stamps. A rare variety of this stamp with an inverted surcharge will be offered during the auction.
