New Greenish-Yellow Rs 20 Banknote Will Feature Ellora Caves

The RBI is soon going to circulate new Rs 20 banknotes as per an official report. The new version would be greenish-yellow in colour and will bear the dimensions - 63 X 129 millimetres. It belongs to the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series and features the signature of Governor Shaktikanta Das. Continuing with the theme for the series, the reverse side will feature a picture of Ellora Caves to highlight India’s cultural heritage.A geometric pattern as per the colour scheme will be included on the obverse and reverse sides. The obverse side has a see-through register with numeral 20, a latent image with Denomination and its Devanagari translation. Mahatma Gandhi portrait will be pictured at the centre with micro letters RBI, Bharat, India and 20. Other elements include promise text, Governor Shaktikanta Das' signature, RBI emblem, Ashok Pillar emblem and electrotype (20) watermark.
The 20 Rupees banknote was introduced by RBI in August 2001. The old red-orange coloured note has a dimension of 143 X 63 millimetres and depicts a picture of Mount Harriet on the reverse side. They will continue to be legal tender even after the new version is released for circulation.
