Aurangabad is named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb; this city is well known for its rich heritage. It is a well-known destination in the state of Maharashtra. Aurangzeb was the emperor who generally disliked because of his ruthlessness, but was respected because of his vigour and skill. During his reign Aurangzeb had applied his great-grandfather Akbar’s skill for conquest: defeat one’s enemies, reconcile them and place them in imperial service.When Aurangzeb was appointed as the viceroy of Deccan in the year 1653, he made his capital as Fatehnagar and called it as Aurangabad. Aurangabad is sometimes referred to as Khujista Bunyad by the Chroniclers of Aurangzeb's reign.
This gold mohur was issued by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the Hijri Year 1108 during 40th year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of King Aurangzeb and the reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name and regnal year.
