H.R. Harmer is going to auction several interesting world stamps from 4th to 6th April at the Hilton Costa Mesa, 3050 Bristol St., in Costa Mesa, Calif. One of the major highlights is a used example of an1893 Honolulu Harbor envelope with a 10¢ black with red "Provisional Government 1893" overprint addressed to Soldin, Germany. It features a black Honolulu duplex cancel with the date: Jan. 5, 1894. San Francisco and New York are included in the transit markings on the reverse side while an arrival marking states “Soldin”. It was one of the earliest "blue inside" 10¢ envelopes with red overprint and only two such examples exist today. The item has a listed market value of $13,000, but it’s difficult to be valued accurately. It will now be offered at the auction with a starting bid of $5,000.Stamps and other philatelic material like 10¢ special delivery, postage dues and newspaper stamps. Stamped envelopes and postal cards, overprinted "UNIVERSAL POSTAL CONGRESS" as specimens for the meeting of the world’s postal operators in 1897 are going to be offered at the auction. Scarce and interesting types of stationery from Hawaii are going to be up for sale as well. Hundreds of U.S. items and over 100 Union and Confederate States Civil War covers will also be auctioned during the 3-day event.
