In 1851, the 12d black Canada stamp was issued; it is one of the rarest examples of first classic stamp of Canadian Post. The stamp features the portrait of young Queen Victoria with the legend ‘Candian Postage and denomination’ within the circular frame and value printed on four sides. Around 51,000 stamps were printed and shipped to the Canadian Post from England. This stamp is sold for a very high price, the mint examples with intact gum are considered to be most valuable.
