Historical Monuments of Nasik Appear on Special Covers of Mahapex

New Special Covers featuring two monuments of Nasik were released at the inaugural function of Mahapex-2016 on 16th January 2016.

Mahapex stands for Maharashtra State Level Philatelic Exhibition which was held in Nasik during 16 – 18 Jan 2016. Being the most famous historical and cultural sites of the city, Pandav Leni and Kalaram Mandir received the honour to appear on Special Covers released for the occasion.

Pandav Leni - a set of 24 rock cut caves belonging to the Hinayana Buddhist period is one of the important ancient Buddhist Sites of Maharashtra that belongs to 1st – 2nd century BC.

The Kalaram Temple is an old Hindu shrine dedicated to Rama in the Panchavati area of Nashik city. Built during the times of the Peshwas, the Temple is unique example of the architect of the time.

The Special Covers depict the images of the monuments along with postage stamps as well as the logo of Mahapex.
