During the course of the civil war in Malwa between two rulers, Mahmud II and his brother Muhammad II, the fort of Chanderi came under the control of Delhi Sultan Sikandar Shah Lodi of Lodi Dynasty in the year AH 921. However Muhammad II defeated his brother, and became the next king, coins struck in his name during that year are also known to be found. After the death Muhammad II, his son Ahmad became the next king. It is reported that after the death of Sikandar Shah Lodi, Ahmad did not acknowledge the sovereignty of Ibrahim Shah Lodi.
