Nativity Forever Stamp to be Released by the US

2016-10-22 Sat

On 3rd November, the second United States Christmas stamp named the 47¢ Nativity forever stamp will be released.

This stamp differs from the Florentine Madonna and Child forever stamp which was issued on 19th October, as it also depicts Joseph holding a lantern, Jesus lying in a straw-filled feeding trough, and the star of Bethlehem. The design celebrates the traditional depictions of the Nativity using deep blue details with a silhouette effect. The word “Christmas” is also printed in Uppercase.

As per the legend, Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem to register for the census decreed by the Roman emperor. Mary wrapped Jesus in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger; because there was no place for them in the inn.

A 12:15 p.m. first-day public ceremony will be organised in Washington, D.C., at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, 1525 H St. NW, near the White House, to release the new stamp.

An unspecified number of press sheets with 160 die-cut Nativity forever stamps will be released.
