On 27th July the central bank of Liberia announced that they would be releasing a banknote of a new denomination - $500.The note is different from the others that are in circulation as they contain portraits of ordinary Liberians on the obverse and not famous leaders. The reverse celebrates the wildlife of the country and also features the traditional seal of the bank with a Kissi penny.
The designs of the other notes in the new series will remain the same. The new notes will have new visible as well as invisible security features and will be made of better quality material to make them more durable.
