On August 6th, 1925, Surendranath Banerjee, a pivotal figure in the founding of Modern India, passed away. He staunchly advocated for autonomy within the British Commonwealth. He held the prestigious position of President of the Indian National Congress not once, but twice: in 1895 in Pune and 1902 in Ahmedabad.Date of Issue: 28th December 1983
