The Royal Bengal Tiger was officially declared the National Animal of India in 1969 by the Indian Wildlife Board, recognizing its grace, strength, agility, and enormous power.India Post issued a postage stamp to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Project Tiger, a government initiative aimed at stabilizing the declining population of the national animal.
