Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809. He was a great English naturalist, geologist, and biologist. He is widely known for his contribution to the understanding of biological evolution. He is considered one of the most influential people in human history.

Charles Darwin published his book "On the Origin of Species" on November 24, 1859. This book is considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology. Darwin, in his book, puts forth the scientific theory of the evolution of populations throughout generations through a process called natural selection.

The stamp shown above is a commemorative stamp for Charles Darwin. It is the birth bicentenary stamp of Charles Darwin. This multicolour stamp measures 30.2 x 40 mm. This stamp was issued on November 12, 2009, by Gibraltar. It has a face value of 2 Gibraltar pounds. The stamp features the face of Charles Darwin and his book "On the Origin of Species’ on the right side. The face value of this stamp is written in the top left corner. The name of the country Gibraltar is written at the bottom; Darwin has written over it, and the number 200 is beside it.
