2022-07-05 Tue

The peso (established as the peso convertible) is the currency of Argentina, identified by the symbol of Dollars. In 1992, banknotes were introduced in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 pesos. The 1-peso note was replaced by a coin in 1994.

In 2016, the Banco Central de la Republica Argentina issued a new series of banknotes, with the 200 and 500 pesos banknotes as the newest denominations. The Argentina 500 Pesos Banknote, shown above, is from 2016 and is part of the 2016-2018 series.

Its obverse side features a jaguar, leaves, flowers, a paw print as a registration device, the silhouette of a jaguar with latent image RA, and the denomination in green-to-blue SPARK. The reverse side features a jaguar cub and adult running through the forest, a compass rose, flowers, the coat of arms of Argentina, and the country’s map highlighting the Northeast region.
