Naim Frasheri was an Albanian patriot, historian, journalist, poet, rilindas, and translator who was proclaimed the national poet of Albania. He is considered the pioneer of Albanian literature and one of the most influential Albanian cultural icons of the 19th century. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Albania. His earliest writings were poetry. His patriotic poems were strongly influenced by Persian literature, and later also French poetry. These banknotes were withdrawn from circulation in 1996.
