Hyderabad – the city of Nizam has been honored with the title of ‘the Creative City of Gastronomy’ by none other than UNESCO at the beginning of the month of November.Just like the Jacob Diamond of Nizam, the city of Hyderabad shines with the marvelous jewels of its Heritage that are fanned-out on the pathways of the city. The architecture, the handicraft, textile or perfumes – the city boasts of its rich past. Hyderabad also offers a varied range of cuisine to visitors.
From spicy Biryani to sweet and savory Biscuits, Hyderabad is India’s one of the iconic destinations of Gastronomy! The cuisine of Hyderabad stands out for its ingenuity as it combines the best of local flavors with Iranian, Turkish and Mughal influences. It comes as no surprise then that the city of Nizams has recently bagged the UNESCO title of "The Creative City of Gastronomy".
India Post in the year 2017, issued a series of stamps featuring various cuisines of India. One of the stamps worth Rs.5 features the famous Hyderabadi delicacy “Biryani”. The stamp depicts a traditional pot full of the spicy treat in the center with the denomination value at the top left corner and the name of the country at the bottom right corner.
