At the Whitman Baltimore Winter Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center on Nov. 14, an ultra-uncommon 1838 half-dollar coin is relied upon to bring as much as $500,000.Known as 1838-O Capped Bust Half Dollar, the coin is one of just nine known to exist, as per numismatic sales management firm Stack's Bowers Galleries. Close to 20 coins were made with regards to the main issue of half dollars at the New Orleans Mint following it was opened in March 1838.
The 50-penny coins weigh 13.36 grams and measure 30 millimeters in width. They contain 90% silver and 10% copper. The surfaces are profoundly intelligent, including light brilliant orange peripheries and brief ice blue features on the front. The invert shows light copper-rose and light blue luminosity in the fields.
The coin available to be purchased is known as the Cox Specimen, perhaps the best model accessible. It was once held in the accumulation of "Colonel" E.H.R. Green, the child of the scandalous "Witch of Wall Street" Hetty Green, the bartering house said.
The mint piece was passed from the Greens through the hands of a few noticeable gatherers and sellers. This is the first occasion when it has been available since the 1980s.
