Gold Mohur of Shah Jahan II Listed For INR 2,50,000

Shah Jahan II was the 11th Mughal Emperor of India, he sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1719 CE after succeeding this brother Rafi-ud-Darjat. Shah Jahan II was born as Rafi-ud-Daula, he was the second son of Rafi-ush-Shan and grandson of Bahadur Shah I. he was the one of the Mughal Emperor to seat on the Mughal throne with the help of Sayyid brothers, who were the King Makers in Mughal history. After sitting on the throne of Mughal Empire he took the title Shah Jahan II.Shah Jahan II ruled the Mughal Empire for three months. So due to his short reign, coins issued by him are rarer. He issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. Coins that he had issued with his name ‘Rafi-ud-Daula’ are very rare.
This gold mohur which weighs around 11.05g was issued by him in the Hijri year 1131 during the 1st year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king Shah Jahan II. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the Julus formula and mint name Dar-ul- Fath Ujjain. This gold mohur is listed for INR 2,50,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques which will be held in Pune on 16th November 2019.
