Silver Rupee of Daud Shah Kararani

Daud Shah Kararani was the ruler of Bengal Sultanate; he was the youngest son of Sulaiman Khan Karrani. He the reign of his father he was appointed as the commander of massive army of 40,000 cavalry, 3,600 elephants, 140,000 infantry and 200 cannons.Daud Shah Kararani ruled the Bengal Sultanate from 1572 to 1576 AD. During the reign, he issued silver coins in the denomination of Rupee and Half Rupee. All these coins were struck at Patna, Satgaon, and Tanda mint.
This silver rupee was issued by him from the mint Patna during the Hijri Year 981. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Daud Shah Kararani. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the kalmia.
