CIT Coin Invest AG released the fourth silver coin in their AC/DC series for Cook Islands. The new coin is dedicated to the iconic AC/DC album, “The Razors Edge”. The 2 oz. .999 silver Black Proof coin has a mintage limit of 999 pieces and a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. They have a face value of 10 Dollars and are struck at B. H. Mayer’s Kunstprageanstalt, Munich. The obverse side depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the designer’s initials: IRB. Other inscriptions on the obverse side include the ruler’s name, country name, denomination and year-date 2019. The reverse side features the cover of The Razors Edge in colour. The ultra-high relief coin is produced using the latest smartminting technology to create two surface levels. The band logo is seen on the upper surface, while the razorblade is on the second surface level. The second level also depicts the album name. The contrasting black coloured surface and the red cut looks impressive.
The Razors Edge was released in 1990 and was the band’s 11th international studio album. It is known for hit songs like “Moneytalks”, “Thunderstruck” and “Are you Ready”. The release was followed by AC/DC’s largest tour until then, the “Razors Edge World Tour”. The tour was organised from 1991 to 1992 with 162 concerts in 22 countries.
