Spink will be offering “The Casino Collection” or the Helmut-Stahl Collection on 10th November in London. It’s considered to be the world’s biggest collection of casino shares with 300 items from more than 20 countries, issued between 1830 and recent times.

A 25-franc share dated 30th April 1894 from the Cercle International de Spa which is one of the first true casinos that was opened in Spa, Belgium, in 1763. Also offered at the event are certificates from Baden-Baden and Bad-Homburg where the game of roulette was introduced to make the Bad-Homburg resort.

The mid-19th century 500 franc certificate for the Bains de Mer et du Cercle des Etrangers à Monaco will also up for auction. The certificate features an image of the casino with countryside scenery and a pool.

After all German casinos were shut down in 1872 the Monte Carlo casino had a monopoly on gambling in Europe and was a profitable business.

A 24th April 1998 certificate for one share of Trump International Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. is also offered which in bankruptcy was worth 88 cents in a cash distribution and one-thousandth of a share in a new company.
