2016-10-01 Sat

On 29th September, the Liberian president Sirleaf received specimens of the first series of the newly printed banknotes from Central Bank Executive Governor Milton Weeks, including denominations ranging from LD$ 01 to $100.

The notes have special security features and are made of a higher quality material to increase durability. They are produced by “Print Currency”, a US-based company and manufactured in Sweden.

L$5, L$10, L$20, L$50 and L$100 notes would be introduced in October, replacing mutilated banknotes already in circulation.

The president congratulated Governor Weeks and team for their dedicated efforts and asked them to create more awareness on the handling of the new money by citizens.
