Rio Olympic Coins Launched by Royal Australian Mint and Woolworths

The Royal Australian Mint has collaborated with Woolworths to bring you a series of limited edition Australian Olympics and Paralympics coins with a face value of $2. Issued to commemorate the 2016 Rio Olympics, the coins feature the five interlocked hoops, symbolic of the Olympics, enclosed in a coloured ring.Out of the set of five coins, the one featuring the black ring is scheduled to be launched today. Each of the coins in the set are designed to represent one of the Olympic rings while one coin represents the Australian Paralympics.
The coins show support to all Australian athletes. The motifs span across 32 sports while the coloured ring on the Paralympics coin represents colours of the Australian team. The $2 coin featuring the blue ring will be the one to hit sales first with the Paralympics coins being released last. Those wishing to purchase these coins will be able to buy them in collector folders. The Olympics coin folder will be available from July 27 while Paralympics folder will be released on August 22.
The 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics commemorative coins will be available for purchase at Woolworths and The Royal Australian Mint.
